- The audit will involve performing procedures to obtain audit evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements.
- Management letter: this letter will communicate to management any significant deficiencies and material weaknesses in internal control identified during the audit, along with other control deficiencies that merit management's attention.
- Audit working papers: contractor's internal documents that detail the audit procedures performed, the evidence obtained, and the conclusions reached. - The audit will not be designed to identify control deficiencies or to express an opinion on internal control.
- The audit will also include evaluating the appropriateness of accounting policies used, the reasonableness of significant accounting estimates made by management, and the overall financial statement presentation.
- Fraud involving senior management, and fraud (whether caused by senior management or other employees) that causes a material misstatement of the financial statements,
- Illegal acts that come to the contractor’s attention (unless they are clearly inconsequential),
- Disagreements with management, and
- Other significant difficulties encountered during the audit.
- Opinion paragraph: this section will state contractor's opinion on the fairness of the financial statements; the opinion could be unqualified (clean), qualified, adverse, or a disclaimer of opinion.
- Basis for opinion paragraph: this section will describe the scope of the audit, and the procedures performed to obtain an audit opinion.
- Management's responsibility for the financial statements: this section will acknowledge management's responsibility for the preparation and fair presentation of the financial statements.
- Auditor's responsibility: this section will outline contractor's responsibility to express an opinion on the financial statements based on the audit performed.
