The vendor is required to provide guidance on best practices in the creation of a new chart of accounts.
- Chart of accounts was developed more than 25 years ago and has been adapted over time to respond to internal organizational changes and external requirements such as changes in accounting standards.
- The existing chart of accounts is comprised of both:
• General ledger accounts
• Project accounts - maintained and reconciled monthly to ensure alignment with corresponding general ledger balances.
- Its financial systems, the city intends to implement a new chart of accounts.
- The updated structure should be modern, flexible and capable of supporting advanced budgeting models (including service-based and priority-based budgeting) without the need for separate project accounts.
