The Vendor is required to provide a comprehensive, independent evaluation of the artificial intelligence project.
- Artificial intelligence project (AIP) is a strategic initiative by the KCI designed to equip educators and students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence in education.
- AIP operates on three core pillars:
• Bi-annual school district working sessions: facilitating discussions and planning among school districts focused on AI use policy for both educators and students, technology infrastructure development, and fostering community involvement in AI education.
• Vetted resource library: curating a comprehensive online repository of lessons, research papers, and up-to-date information on AI in education, serving as a dynamic resource for educators and leaders.
• Professional development for teacher leaders and general teachers: offering a specialized 12-unit program for teacher leaders emphasizing AI literacy, ethics, and practical tools, alongside broader professional development opportunities for general teachers within partner school districts.
- The core objectives of this research include:
• To evaluate the impact of project professional learning initiatives on educators' confidence, knowledge, and classroom integration of AI tools and concepts.
• To assess the influence of project on students' basic AI and digital literacy, engagement, interest in AI, and, where possible, learning outcomes.
• To identify best practices and ethical considerations in AI integration within educational settings.
• To inform the development of future project interventions through a researcher-practitioner partnership model.
- Landscape Analysis
• Identify current best practices and successful implementations of AI in educational contexts.
• Identify gaps in current research and practice related to AI in education.
• Explore the evolving trends and emerging insights within the field of AI in education.
• Inform the foundational understanding and design of KCI's learning experiences, ensuring they are practical, forward-thinking, and relevant.
- Study Design and Methodology Development
• Educators: Growth in Confidence: Are educators feeling more confident using AI tools and discussing AI in their classrooms
• Students: Basic AI and Digital Literacy: Are students gaining a better understanding of what AI is and how it affects their world
• Students: Engagement and Interest: Are students more engaged when AI tools are part of their learning
• Data Synthesis Plan: Outline a plan to synthesize findings to identify common themes, regional differences, promising practices, and areas requiring further investment or research.
- Data Collection
• Surveys, interviews, and focus groups: conduct these with participating teachers and administrators during fall 2025, winter 2026, and spring 2026.
• Usage data collection and analysis: continuously collect and analyze usage data from the project program's resources and professional development activities (ongoing).
• Classroom observations (feasible basis): if feasible and approved by KCI and partner districts, conduct observations of classroom practices and interactions related to AI integration (ongoing).
- Analysis and reporting
• Program impact assessment: continuously analyze collected data to assess the program's impact against established KPIS (ongoing).
• Comparative outcomes: compare outcomes across different demographic and institutional contexts to understand varying impacts (ongoing).
• Detailed final report: generate a comprehensive, detailed report summarizing all findings, including clear visualizations, statistical analysis, and case studies where applicable (summer 2026).
