The vendor is required to provide twenty-two (22) school security officers (SSOS) for 8 hours per day, which includes an unpaid 30-minute lunch break, to perform school security services as outlined in this document.
- SSOs may be required to clock in and out on a District-provided device and complete a Daily Log, which must be submitted weekly to the Supervisor of Safety and Security or their designee.
- The District reserves the right to adjust the number of SSOs for any reason and will only be billed for the number of SSOs actively providing service.
- Scheduled work times are subject to the district’s operational hours and must comply with the District’s security protocols.
- SSOs are expected to work approximately 180 school days, with up to ten (10) in-service/Act 80 days designated for professional development and training.
- These days are considered scheduled workdays, and personal time off (PTO) must be used if an SSO is unable to be present.
- Provide an annual school year calendar to the contractor and SSOs, identifying all scheduled workdays. SSOs generally report to their assigned posts one (1) week prior to the start of the school year, however some training is completed over the summer such as Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training.
- District events beyond the regular school day may require additional security coverage. Overtime (OT) shall only be paid when there is no break in service.
- A break in service of one hour or more shall result in regular pay for the subsequent shift.
- Daytime SSOs working after-hour events will not receive overtime pay; normal rates will apply. A minimum 4-hour standard will be enforced for such events. It is estimated that approximately 364 hours will be required for after-school events throughout the school year.
- School Security Officers (SSOs) are encouraged to actively integrate into their assigned school communities and serve as positive role models for students; they should strive to establish and maintain professional, respectful, and appropriate relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Their security responsibilities, SSOs play a critical role in fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment; they are expected to engage in daily school activities, maintain a visible and approachable presence, and contribute to a positive school culture by promoting trust and open communication.
