Security Officer Services

The vendor is required to provide security guards stationed in three separate housing buildings: commons and village, and one optional supervisory guard to oversee the grounds outside the dorms.
- This is needed 7 days a week from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.
1. Monitoring access and entry points
• Controlled access: ensuring all students and staff use appropriate college identification 
• Visitor management: checking visitor credentials and maintaining visitor logs. 
• This will provide a clear record of those who enter college dormitories, which are critical for both security and accountability. 
• Communication with law enforcement: incidents that security guards cannot neutralize will be escalated to local law enforcement in accordance with pre-defined protocols mutually determined by college.
2. Patrolling school grounds
• Inspecting: hallways, parking lots, and common areas for any safety and security concerns. 
• This includes scheduling patrols during peak times to maximize visibility, deterrence, and safety. 
• Incident prevention: identifying and addressing potential hazards or suspicious activities early, security patrols help prevent incidents before they occur. 
• Safety assurance: regular and unpredictable patrolling reassures students, staff, and visitors, and creates a more comfortable and focused learning environment. 
• It fosters peace of mind and well-being. 
• Engagement: security guards are to engage positively with those they interact with, building trust and communication. 
• Rapid response: responding immediately to alarms or unusual activity. 
• Reporting: documenting hazards or damages that might pose a risk to students and staff. 
• These reports will be submitted to school administrators immediately.
3. Reporting
• A clear and comprehensive reporting tool is crucial for effective collaboration and successful outcomes. supplier should introduce a system that allows guards to complete all security logs and incident reports in a timely manner. 
• All security incidents, including violence, vandalism, trespassing, or any activity that otherwise violates the college code of conduct and rules and regulations will be reported to the appropriate school officials.
4. Providing support during emergencies
• Immediate response: security guards are trained as first responders and are the first to report to an emergency, providing immediate action to stabilize the situation and prevent escalation. 
• Immediate response is crucial in minimizing chaos and harm. 
• Crowd control: managing crowds and maintaining order are critical. 
• During fire drills or other crises, security guards will assist in directing students, staff, and visitors to designated staging areas in an efficient manner, establishing a safe and orderly evacuation. 
• Centralized communication: guards will maintain line-of-sight communication with college administrators during lockdowns and other emergency situations. 
• They will serve as communication link between first responders and college officials during medical emergencies and accidents, relaying vital information and coordinating efforts to ensure effective medical management.
5. Behavioral monitoring and conflict resolution
• Harassment – security guards should be trained to identify signs of bullying or distress among students and will report them to the appropriate college officials 
• Mediation – security guards will intervene in non-violent confrontations to encourage peaceful resolutions. 
• De-escalation - calm presence to de-escalate situations and promote cooperative behavior.
6. Key attributes
• Appropriate training: basic security certifications, diligent and mandatory training, and familiarity with specific college safety protocols. 
• Effective communication: ability to interact kindly but firmly. 
• Observational skills: a keen eye for identifying potential risks or unusual behavior. 
• Empathy and understanding: a patient and approachable demeanor suitable for working with young adults.
