The Vendor is required to provide security services at the county.
- For both courthouses, two (2) guards must be at the door entrance at all times.
- Both Guards must be armed.
- Every guard shall be trained, with proof of certification, in a secondary nonlethal weapon (for example, but not limited to, taser, OC, asp).
- General Duties:
• Control access of the building (security)
• Operate an x-ray machine, magnetometer, and handheld wands, which will be provided by the county
• Perform pat down searches when deemed necessary along with manual searches of property (purse, backpack, etc.)
• Confiscating any weapons or contraband from parties when necessary
• Knowledge of building layout to provide accurate directions to the public
• Maintain professionalism and proper etiquette towards the public under all circumstances
• Keep a professional rapport with building staff and local law enforcement officers
• Patrol the main hallways at end of shift on all floors and secure all outside doors
• Notify deputies in court services of any current or pending situations.
• Guards are not to respond to any situations occurring in the courtrooms of the courthouse.
• Security must be maintained at the door at all times by two guards.
• Follow the directions given to them by court services personnel
• All employees shall pass a county sheriff background check.
• It is the vendor’s responsibility to notify office of staffing changes and all background checks will be completed before any employee works security.
• Assist in any courthouse building evacuation by staying at posts and not allowing entrance of the public after evacuation and until the incident commander relieves them from their post. Also, announce the evacuation via the intercom system.
• Assist with inmate security at the hospitals when needed or within the jail upon emergencies within a 2-hour time frame upon office request.
• Security guards shall assist with tray pass for meals in all pods. Security guard shall make sure all utensils, trays and cups are accounted for when returned.
• Security guard will escort professional visitors such as attorneys to interview rooms for inmate visits.
• Security guard shall run property bags, documentation and miscellaneous errands in between pods for deputies.
• Security guard shall conduct pat down searches on inmates when returning from court and when needed when inmate returns from outside the detention facility.
• Security guard conducts perimeter checks within the jail.
• Security guard escorts inmates to interview rooms, to court, to the medical office, or as required by deputies.
• Provide security for inmates that are transported to hospital and maintain security of inmate throughout duration of hospital stay while reporting to sheriff office.
• Security guard provides security for inmates that are being examined or in the medical office and during med pass.
• Security guard assists medical staff in viewing the inmate's mouth to assure that medicine has been taken.
• Equipment required: the detention security guard shall be equipped with and trained to use the duress alarm, mobile radio and safety tools, which will be provided by the county
• Security guard makes security checks in assigned pods.
• Security checks will be comprised of observation of inmates and report of any potential security risks.
• The use of an electronic wand will be used to record the time a row of pods is visually checked by the security guard from start of that row to end of that row.
• Visual checks will be done for safety concerns such as any hanging items from ceiling, water on floor, etc.
• Visual and verbal checks in each pod for inmate coherency and stability.
• While assigned to a pod and in between individual cell checks the security guard will observe and control any situations or potential situations and may have to physically defuse or control an inmate if verbal commands are not effective.
- Duty hours at the Detention Facility:
• 24 hours a day, every day. Usually, 1 officer will work a 12-hour shift of 6 am to 6 pm to match what our Deputies work. 168 weekly hours.
