1. Project orientation, research, and stakeholder engagement
• Kickoff meeting with city staff to confirm goals, processes, and expectations.
• Review of city archives, collections, interpretive themes, conservation priorities, and existing educational materials.
• stakeholder engagement with historians, educators, archivists, conservators, community Partners, youth, and teaching artists.
• synthesis of findings to guide all subsequent curriculum, program, and engagement planning.
2. Curriculum development and training planning - the proposer shall develop a comprehensive education framework that includes:
• Learning modules, educator tools, and interpretive content for use by schools and museum visitors.
• Codification of an internship curriculum supporting pathways in conservation and museum studies.
• Training models for docents, teaching artists, and education staff.
• A pilot-testing structure for refining curriculum through educator feedback.
3. Educational programming planning - the proposer shall create a cohesive educational programming plan that includes:
• Design of conceptual program models such as hands-on workshops, conservation demonstrations, tours, and student learning experiences.
• Structural planning for a February scholarly lecture series developed with historians, archivists, and other experts.
• Content and training frameworks to expand docent capacity for seasonal surges in group visits.
• Program evaluation tools and measurement strategies.
4. Community engagement and teaching artistry planning
• A teaching artist engagement model, including recruitment, training, and content alignment protocols.
• Family day and public workshop structures with clearly defined content, methods, and accessibility considerations.
• Community learning strategies integrating historical accuracy and conservation storytelling.
• Identification of key partnerships with schools, cultural groups, community organizations, and youth organizations.
• A framework for ongoing community feedback through advisory groups and listening sessions.
5. Integration with facing the rising sun exhibition modernization planning
• Aligning education, community engagement, and teaching artistry recommendations with planned interpretive enhancements.
• Coordinating with community advisors and scholars to ensure inclusive, accurate, and responsive educational approaches.
• Identifying opportunities for digital interpretation, interactive learning, and alternative media formats to support diverse audiences.
• Contributing educational components that inform development of a future exhibition design.
