The vendor is required to provide for fire extinguisher service and fire suppression service for the 2025-2026 school year on an “as needed basis” and for code compliance.
- Provide all labor, tools, materials, equipment and all incidentals required for and/or implied for the complete and satisfactory installation and/or repair of the district’s equipment and systems.
- This work shall include, but not be limited to, new installations for replacement or for new future areas not currently addressed, maintenance, servicing, repairs, modifications as required, and ancillary equipment related to services as specified herein.
• Inspection and testing of all fire suppression systems in the district, as well as inspection and servicing of all fire extinguishers and equipment district-wide.
• When extinguishers are serviced by the vendor, a district representative will check and indicate by signing the vendor's charge sheet as to the number of extinguishers recharged or serviced.
• Fire suppression system service including fusible links - twice a year or as code requires for all school facilities.
• Testing and certification of all sprinkler systems including standpipes and related devices yearly or as required by the local fire department and code.
• Repairing, maintaining, relocating, installing and/or, resetting of all suppression systems as required or after actual or accidental use – “Ansul type”, sprinklers, all related equipment and apparatus.
• Repairs, adjustments, installations, code compliance items or the replacement of any equipment must first be approved by the director of operations with a completed district work order form
• Recharge, test and tag extinguishers as needed, update tag accordingly.
• Hydrostatic tests should be performed if necessary. if extinguisher is to be taken from the site for repair or hydrostatic testing vendor shall loan the site an extinguisher of the same class and size. six-year maintenance of extinguishers and Ansul tanks requiring such shall be done in compliance with NFPA #
• The district shall not be charged for a recharge of the extinguisher if it is not needed at the time of the six-year maintenance. hydrostatic testing not performed at the facility location shall be performed by the vendor offsite for no additional charge in compliance with federal dot standards and national fire protection association (NFPA) # 10 or current code.
• In the case of major equipment replacement or upgrade, a proposal must first be submitted to the director of operations or their designee, before any work is performed.
• Provide all necessary parts and materials for a properly working code compliant system that is violation free.
• Inspection, service and maintenance shall be done twice per school year or as code requires and a detailed report and certification shall be submitted to the division of operations office stating that all the systems are working in accordance with all existing local, county and state codes.
• Contractors must have a minimum five years’ experience (submit experience history and references with bid) and must have had experience working with a school district. contractor must be registered and insured and duly licensed in the state and must be in compliance with all state, local and county
• Equipment in every school building in city is to be checked by all bidders prior to bid opening to ensure total coverage during the annual contract.
• Contact the division of operations office for an appointment to inspect the sites.
• Any repairs found to be necessary on the effective starting date of the contract will be the responsibility of the successful bidder.
• The successful bidder shall also be registered with the city of departments as required.
• Proof of registration must be submitted with the bid.
• The successful bidder shall also provide all necessary documentation and certifications for approval of the system by the local fire department, fire extinguishers shall be properly tagged and all equipment properly labeled.
• All certifications shall be forwarded to the building services office within 5 days of inspections or repairs.
• All code related deficiencies shall be corrected within 24 hours of receipt of a work order notification by building services.
• If the local authority having jurisdiction requires a correction or repair in a shorter time frame the vendor shall respond per the AHJ’s direction and instruction.
• At no time shall a school be closed due the vendor not responding and correcting the deficiency.
