The vendor is required to provide that international student health insurance service for a comprehensive health insurance plan tailored to the unique needs of international students
- Requirement payment systems provider includes the:
• Insurance plan design & coverage:
o Coverage is encouraged to include, but not be limited to, the following:
- General medical care (doctor visits, specialists, diagnostic services) ○ hospitalization (inpatient and outpatient care)
- Prescription drugs
- Mental health services (therapy, counseling, psychiatric care)
- Emergency services (ambulance, emergency room)
- Maternity and newborn care
- Vision and dental (optional or supplemental coverage)
- Covid-19-related care and vaccinations ○ preventive care
- Coverage for pre-existing conditions after a specified waiting period.
o Regulatory compliance:
- Ensure that the proposed plan meets or exceeds the legal requirements of the country the institution is located and any specific regulations governing international student health coverage.
- The plan should also comply with institutional policies regarding student health and wellness
o Customer support & communication:
- Provide 24/7 multilingual customer service to assist students in navigating the healthcare system, understanding their coverage, and handling claims.
- Develop clear, easy-to-understand educational materials to help students understand their health insurance coverage and how to access services.
- Provide a digital portal for students to manage their benefits, file claims, and access insurance information.
o Claims management:
- Offer seamless and efficient claims processing, with options for online and mobile submissions.
- Ensure timely reimbursement and provide regular updates on claims status.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to manage direct billing whenever possible.
o Reporting & data sharing:
- Provide regular reports to the institution, including enrollment data, claims summaries, and cost analyses.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy laws for any personal health information shared with the institution.
o Enrollment services:
- Implement flexible enrollment options, ensuring that students can sign up for coverage upon arrival and adjust their plans as needed.
- Offer integration with the institution's existing systems for streamlined enrollment processes.
o Wellness programs & preventive health:
- Include initiatives that promote student health and wellness, such as preventive care reminders, wellness webinars, and health screenings.
- Offer optional wellness and mental health programs aimed at supporting international students during their academic journey.
o Transition & exit planning:
- Ensure smooth transitions for students entering and exiting the insurance program, including clear guidelines on continuation of coverage after graduation or early program termination
