The vendor is required to provide legal counsel to victims of domestic violence who are referred by the crime victim’s assistance program (CVAP) for the county’s department.
- Provide services to both documented and undocumented clients, and to clients who are unable to speak English.
- The services shall include representation in family, criminal, and/or civil court matters, including support proceedings, paternity processing, custody matters, visitation, divorce, housing, employment, immigration, domestic partnership, and other legal matters related to domestic violence victimization.
- Provide the services at an office within five (5) miles city limits.
- Provide consultation hours, during which the firm shall provide advice to clients before a decision is made on how to proceed with the firm's representation of the client.
- At minimum, the firm shall have an interpreter available to facilitate communication with Spanish speaking clients.
- The firm shall make every effort to provide Spanish-speaking legal counsel to Spanish-speaking clients.
- Provide legal counsel with interpretation in languages other than Spanish on as needed basis.
- Provide the services Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during these hours, the firm shall provide a domestic violence staff attorney to provide legal advice to clients who are contemplating legal action and shall be available outside of the hours specified in this section 7, on an as-needed basis.
- Provide monthly program reports directly to CVAP.
- The report at minimum shall contain the following information: name of clients served, date of services, time spent providing services, case types (example: custody, child support, immigration, etc.), and name of attorneys providing services.
