The Vendor is required to provide to serve as medical director for its emergency medical services (EMS) program.
- The Medical Director will play a critical role in shaping clinical strategy, maintaining a robust continuous quality improvement program, overseeing controlled substances management, and supporting the training and professional development of agency EMS personnel.
- Respondent will be expected to commit a minimum of twenty (20) hours per month to ensure meaningful, active engagement with department leadership, field personnel, and ongoing program development.
- This role carries significant responsibility and requires a physician with hands-on medical direction experience, deep familiarity with state EMS systems, and a commitment to evidence-based prehospital care.
- Medical Direction and Clinical Leadership
• Advising the fire chief or designee on ems system design, clinical operations, and strategic planning.
• Serving as the primary medical director for agency, providing expert medical guidance regarding all aspects of emergency medical services delivery.
• Acting as a liaison and advisor to the orange county ems agency regarding agency EMS programs, policies, and operational activities.
• Developing, reviewing, approving, and maintaining prehospital patient care protocols and clinical guidelines consistent with act and state EMSA requirements.
• Conducting field observations, education, training, and station visits to evaluate clinical practice and provide mentorship and support to ems personnel.
• Providing medical supervision and oversight for nurse practitioners or other advanced practice providers assigned to community care units, advanced provider units, or similar programs.
• Assisting with program evaluation, operational assessments, and implementation of system improvements.
• Supporting the development of ems-related grants, pilot programs, and research initiatives when applicable.
• Committing a minimum of twenty (20) hours per month to agency ems system oversight, including scheduled onsite visits, meetings, and program reviews.
• Providing administrative medical supervision and assisting with continuing medical education (CME) initiatives for ems personnel.
• Provide other related services as required.
