Textbook Production Services

The Vendor is required to provide for the layout of graphics and text, and page proofing for three (3) state basic recruit training textbooks.
- All graphics, content, and cover art will be provided to the Respondent by the department.
- The textbooks included:
• Law enforcement academy, volume 1—approximately 650 pages; 140,000 words; 45 illustrations; 14 tables
• Corrections, volume 1—approximately 350 pages; 108,000 words; 11 illustrations; 8 tables
• High liability, volume 2—approximately 400 pages; 54,000 words; 135 illustrations; 8 tables - Each textbook receives extensive revision every 4-5 years on a rotating basis.
- This may include new illustrations, the addition of chapters, and potentially new layout formats. 
- For textbooks not slated for extensive revision, changes are minimal and usually related to updating statutory information.
- The content will include at a minimum:
• Word document files
• Front and back covers
• Tables of contents
• Front matter
• Glossaries
• Indexes
• Appendixes
• Endnotes and bibliographies
• Figures and illustrations
- Factory Service Requirements
1. Quality Assurance:
• Implement a robust quality assurance process to ensure high standards for all layouts.
• Provide department with an explanation of Respondent’s quality assurance process.
• Conduct internal reviews of page proofs before submission to department.
2. Software and Tools:
• Utilize industry-standard typesetting and layout software.
• Ensure compatibility with various digital formats and platforms.
3. Data Security:
• Ensure the confidentiality and security of all content provided by department.
• Comply with data protection regulations and best practices.
