The Vendor is required to provide to develop an economic development marketing strategy (“ED Marketing Strategy”).
- This strategy will enhance the department’s marketing efforts to businesses, developers, site selectors, event organizers, and tourists by effectively communicating city unique advantages to these target audiences.
- The strategy will leverage both traditional and digital platforms to maximize its reach and impact.
- Responsible for designing, developing, and guiding the implementation of an effective ED marketing strategy aligned with the goals of the city’s economic development strategic plan.
- The consultant is expected to apply best practices in economic development marketing and engage stakeholders to ensure the strategy reflects the community’s needs and aspirations.
- Research and Discovery
• Complete a scan to establish a baseline understanding of the city’s past and current marketing strategies.
• Review relevant documents, such as the city’s economic development strategic plan and the 2040 general plan, to understand city vision, economic and community development goals, and opportunities and challenges.
• Develop and implement a stakeholder engagement plan to gather insights and feedback.
• Activities may include, but are not limited to:
1. Holding a town hall-style meeting with business leaders, commercial real estate brokers, and large property owners.
2. Facilitating a roundtable discussion with members of the city’s executive team.
3. Presenting findings and recommendations to local elected officials and commissioners.
4. Organizing workshops, focus groups, surveys, and other feedback mechanisms.
- ED marketing strategy
• Highlight the city’s unique selling points, such as its strategic location, assets, business-friendly policies, demographics, and infrastructure.
• These elements should showcase the city’s appeal to businesses, developers, investors, and visitors.
• Create profiles for the city’s key audiences, such as real estate developers, business owners, investors, and visitors.
• Develop clear, compelling messages, taglines, and positioning statements that effectively communicate the city’s unique advantages and benefits.
• These messages should resonate with the identified target audiences.
• Determine the types of content the city should produce and the most effective channels for distribution, such as social media, email newsletters, trade shows, trade magazines and news publications, websites, etc.
• Develop a detailed implementation plan with actionable steps, timelines, responsibilities, key performance indicators, and resource requirements.
• Recommend a system for continuous monitoring, evaluation, and adjustment of the strategy.
• This includes regularly assessing key performance indicators, gathering feedback, and making data-driven changes to optimize results.
- Creative assets and collateral
• Create multipurpose graphics, templates, and collateral for newsletters, social media posts, websites, fact sheets, ads, and opportunity site flyers.
• Ensure assets are adaptable across different campaigns and channels and easily updated for future use.
