The Vendor is required to provide internet service providers (ISPS) to provide redundant direct internet access (DIA) services for a new city.
- Select two or more providers to ensure diverse physical pathways to maintain internet connectivity in the event of infrastructure failures.
- Bandwidth options
• 1 Gbps fully symmetric direct internet access
• 10 Gbps fully symmetric direct internet access
- BGP peering and routing
• Provider must support BGP peering with the cities as number
• Provider must accept the city's IP prefixes for advertisement
• Provider must have the ability to implement BGP communities, filters, and prepending as directed by the city
• Provider must accept full BGP routing tables from the city
• Provider shall detail any BGP limitations or restrictions in their proposal
• Provider must allocate a minimum of 4 public IP addresses to the city for NAT and testing purposes
- Physical connectivity
• Provider must deliver services to one of two designated entry vaults at the facility
• Provider must document their physical path diversity from the city's facility to their core network
• Provider must demonstrate how their solution avoids common points of failure with other providers
- Diverse routing paths
• Each provider must clearly document its proposed physical path from the city facility to the provider's core network
• Providers must demonstrate how their proposed paths achieve true path diversity, avoiding common conduits, rights-of-way, and central offices
• Providers must detail any potential single points of failure in their proposed solution
- Demarcation points
• Provider shall terminate service at one of two designated entrance vaults at the facility
• Provider shall be responsible for all outside plant infrastructure up to the demarcation point
• Provider shall supply appropriate optics compatible with city equipment
• Provider shall provide single-mode fiber with lc connectors compatible with the city's arista switches
• Provider shall coordinate with city it staff for final connection details - Network equipment
• Provider shall detail all equipment to be installed at the city facility
• Provider shall specify power and space requirements for any provider-owned equipment
• Provider shall support either fiber handoff or copper handoff as requested by the city - Internet transit capacity
• Provider must maintain sufficient backbone capacity to ensure full throughput of contracted bandwidth
• Provider must have diverse connections to multiple tier 1 internet providers
• Provider must document their peering relationships with other providers
• Provider must not oversubscribe the city's connection
- Technical support
• Provider must offer 24x7x365 technical support
• Provider must detail escalation procedures and response times
• Provider must supply an online portal for service monitoring and trouble ticket submission.
