The vendor is required to provide interior painting services include facilitate flexible project planning and budgeting, the district requests a baseline cost for each 100 square feet of painted area.
- This baseline will be used to scale the project as needed, depending on the total area to be painted.
- Paint material
• Must be premium-grade paint suitable for the specified surface (interior or exterior).
• Low or zero VOC products are highly preferred to minimize health and environmental impacts.
• Paints must comply with all relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., ASTM and EPA guidelines).
- Color and finish
• The district will select colors, which may include multiple tones for different spaces.
• Acceptable finishes include flat/matte, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, or gloss, as determined by the specific area’s needs (e.g., high-traffic corridors).
• Where relevant, primer and paint must be color-matched for consistent coverage.
- Performance standards
• All paints must exhibit good wash ability, scuff resistance, and color retention.
• Must adhere to surfaces without peeling or cracking for the duration of the warranty period under normal use conditions.
- Surface preparation:
- Inspection
• The contractor must inspect each site or room before painting; identify and document any damage or environmental conditions.
- Surface repairs
• Repair cracks, holes, dents, or other imperfections using appropriate fillers or patching compounds.
• Sand-repaired areas flush with the original surface to ensure a uniform finish.
- Cleaning and priming
• Clean all surfaces to remove dirt, grease, and other contaminants that may affect adhesion.
• Apply a compatible primer if required (e.g., over repaired areas, previously unpainted surfaces, or where existing coatings are heavily worn).
- Methods
• Painting methods (brush, roller, or spray) should follow the paint manufacturer’s recommendations to achieve proper coverage and finish.
• Edges, trim, ceilings, and other detail work must be finished neatly and uniformly.
- Coats
• Apply the number of coats recommended by the manufacturer or as specified by the district to achieve complete coverage and desired appearance.
• Each coat must fully dry or cure before applying subsequent layers.
- Clean edges and protection
• Mask and protect all adjacent surfaces, fixtures, floors, and furniture.
• Remove masking materials promptly after paint has dried and before tape or coverings can cause damage.
- Service requirements:
• Provide a written warranty of no less than one (1) year from the date of completion, covering workmanship and material defects.
• The warranty must include terms for repair or repainting at no cost to the district if failures occur due to substandard materials or application.
- Post-installation support
• Offer basic maintenance or touch-up guidelines.
• Advise district staff on proper cleaning and care of the newly painted surfaces.
- Inspection and acceptance
• Upon completion, the district will inspect all painted areas to ensure coverage, color match, and finish quality meet specified requirements.
• Final acceptance and payment will be contingent on successful completion, addressing any punch list items, and fulfilling warranty conditions.
- Schedule
• The contractor must provide a detailed work schedule, including start dates, milestones, and completion dates.
• Unless otherwise agreed upon, work should be planned to minimize disruption to district operations (e.g., nights, weekends, or school breaks).
- Materials delivery and storage
• Deliver all necessary materials to each job site in a timely manner, ensuring the project stays on schedule.
• If on-site storage is needed, coordinate with the district’s operations team to secure a suitable area.
- Site management
• Maintain a neat and orderly work environment, removing debris and tools at the end of each workday.
• Immediately report any disruptions, hazards, or damages to the district’s operations team.
• Comply with all safety regulations, including use of ladders, scaffolding, personal protective equipment, and safe work practices in occupied school facilities.
• All work must be performed in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and building codes and shall meet or exceed any relevant standards.
