Pharmaceutical Services

The Vendor is required to provide Pharmaceutical Services for the county jail in accordance with municipal law section 103(d) and local finance law.
- This pharmacy will provide a system that:
•    Facilitates timely drug distribution and delivery to the jail and administration by the nursing staff.
•    Ensures quality medications.
•    Is cost-effective to the Jail.
- Provide modern pharmacy services that shall include but not be limited to, a unit dose or similar type dispensing system.
- Each inmate profile shall reflect each refill and/or each prescription for the inmate. All inmate profiles will be maintained and reviewed prior to dispensing each medication by means of an appropriate computerized prescription program.
- Each inmate profile shall be readily retrievable at the reasonable request of the Jail.
- All medications shall be packaged in accordance with State and Federal regulations and shall include the following information:
•    Name of item
•    Strength/Dose
•    Manufacturer
•    Lot number
•    Expiration Date
- Medications will be dispensed in quantities sufficient for not more than thirty (30) days or as requested by the prescribed. Automatic stop dates for potentially hazardous medications will be established by the Medical Director, Quality Assurance and/or Pharmacy, when applicable.
- All medications must have a maximum expiration date.
- Emergency or Stat orders should be delivered within 8 hours directly to the nursing units whenever appropriate. The successful proposer must provide or arrange for reliable emergency and stat service acceptable to the Jail.
- Computerized Medication Administration Record Sheets (MARS) acceptable to the Jail, pre-printed, listing each medication for the month and the physician orders for each inmate each inmate each month, will be supplied to the Jail no later than 7 days prior to the beginning of each month at no charge to the Jail.
