The Vendor is required to provide to deliver skilled nursing services to students with intensive medical needs.
- These 1:1 nursing services will be provided both during the school day and during transportation to and from school.
- Provide to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students requiring continuous or intermittent medical care.
- Services will include 1:1 skilled nursing.
- In-school nursing services
• The health care provider shall:
• Provide licensed registered nurses (RNS) or licensed practical nurses (LPNS) to deliver one on-one skilled nursing care to students with complex medical needs.
• Administer medications, including controlled substances, in accordance with physician orders and school policies.
• Monitor vital signs and respond to medical emergencies.
• Perform medical procedures such as tracheostomy care, suctioning, gastrostomy tube feedings, catheterizations, and seizure management.
• Maintain accurate and confidential medical documentation.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents/guardians, and healthcare providers to support the student’s individualized education program (IEP) or 504 plan.
• Participate in IEP meetings and provide input on the student’s medical needs and accommodations.
- Transportation nursing services
• The selected provider shall:
• Provide a qualified nurse to accompany students with medical needs on the school bus to and from school.
• Ensure the nurse meets the identified student at the location designated by the district; nursing services are provided when the child is getting on and off transportation.
• Ensure the nurse is trained in emergency response and the specific medical needs of the student(s) assigned.
• Monitor the student’s condition during transit and provide necessary interventions.
• Maintain communication with school staff and parents regarding any incidents or concerns during transportation.
• Ensure continuity of care between home, transportation, and school settings.
- Staffing requirements
• All nurses must hold valid state licensure and be in good standing.
• Nurses must have current CPR and first aid certification.
• Experience with pediatric and school-based nursing is preferred.
• Background checks and fingerprinting must be completed prior to assignment.
• Must have capacity to provide 1:1 nursing services for at least 2 different students
• Must have ability to provide coverage in-case of nursing absence
- Service hours
• Services are required during regular school hours (hours vary by school) and during transportation times, which may include early morning and late afternoon.
• Extended hours may be required for field trips or after-school activities.
- Contract Period/Term: 1 year
