Community and Population Health Nursing Services

The Vendor is required to provide community and population health nursing services in clinical simulation learning.
- Clinical simulation learning in community and population health nursing, engaging students using simulation learning to develop competency in applying community and public health nursing concepts and principles relevant to disease prevention, disaster preparedness, and improving population health. 
• To integrate clinical simulation learning focused on community, population health, and public health nursing concepts, principles and practices into clinical nursing practicum experiences.
• To deliver a high-quality simulation-based learning experience that actively engages students to develop knowledge and competency in community and population health nursing practice.
• To assess the effectiveness of clinical simulation learning through a combination of data sources to provide a comprehensive assessment of competency-based education and learning outcomes.
- Clinical simulation outcomes: 
1. Preparation and engagement:
• Pre-simulation readiness:  completed assigned readings and demonstrate readiness to apply community health concepts.
• Engagement: actively participates in all aspects of the simulation (pre-briefing, simulation activity, and debriefing).
• Professional behavior: maintains respectful, culturally safe practices in communication and collaborative teamwork throughout the simulation.
2. Assessment and data collection:
• Community assessment skills: effectively gathers and interprets community and public health data (e.g., windshield survey, epidemiological data, social determinants, and participant interviews).
• Identification of factors affecting population health: recognizes historical, current and emerging conditions; socio-ecological and other predisposing, reinforcing, and enabling influences on health; policy, systems and environments; disparities and inequities; and underserved and under-resourced groups within the community setting.
3. Critical thinking and clinical judgment:
• Prioritization: identifies and prioritizes health concerns based on assessment data and dialogue with involved communities
• Intervention planning: selects appropriate evidence-based interventions (e.g., health education, outreach strategies, partnerships) in collaboration with community partners.
• Problem-solving: demonstrates adaptive and relational thinking when responding to evolving simulation scenarios (e.g., outbreak, limited resources, and disasters).
4. Communication and collaboration:
• Client-centered communication: uses effective communication strategies with simulated individuals or groups.
• Teamwork: collaborates effectively with peers and inter-professional team members within the simulation.
• Cultural safety: addresses self-reflection, consideration of power inequalities, structural influences, and cultural, linguistic, and literacy considerations in planning and delivering care.
5. Application of population and public health nursing principles:
• Community engagement and partnership: describes strategies for establishing effective and reciprocal relationships with diverse groups and populations.
• Disaster preparedness: describes the nursing role to protect population health during disasters and public health emergencies.
• Health promotion and prevention: describes primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention strategies appropriately. 
• Employs empowerment and other relational and system change strategies in addressing social determinants of health.
• Policy and advocacy: recognizes the role of nurses in influencing public health policy or advocating for community needs.
• Resource utilization: identifies appropriate community resources and systems of care
6. Reflection and debriefing:
• Reflection: actively and meaningfully reflects their attitudes, opinions, and perceptions inside the simulation activity. 
• Linking theory to practice: clearly connects simulation experience to course content and community and public health frameworks (e.g., healthy people objectives, social ecological model).
• Self-assessment: provides thoughtful, honest reflection on performance including strengths and opportunities for improvement
• Integration of feedback: demonstrates commitment to integrating feedback to future learning or clinical situations.
