The vendor is required to provide a comprehensive backup and restore solution to replace or update the existing comm vault solution.
- The solution must support virtual machines (VMs), databases, files, and applications, while integrating data integrity checks, anomaly detection, recovery testing, and security controls.
- This project aims to enhance backup and restore capabilities by implementing a scalable, reliable solution that ensures rapid data recovery and compliance with retention policies.
- It will increase cyber recovery capabilities by integrating air-gapped storage (both logical and physical air gapping acceptable), malware analysis-based recovery and secure backup environments.
- The solution must improve data classification to optimize storage management and enforce retention policies.
- It will enhance data monitoring and reporting, providing analytics on backup performance, data integrity, and security threats.
- Include for services:
• Proof of concept (POC):
o The offeror must provide a detailed plan for executing a proof of concept (POC) to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of their proposed solution.
o The POC will include specific success criteria and metrics to evaluate the solution's performance.
o The successful completion of the POC will serve as the first stage gate for the subsequent project implementation.
• Hardware and software recommendations:
o The offeror should provide recommendations for the necessary hardware and software to support the proposed backup and restore solution.
o These recommendations should consider scalability, compatibility with existing systems, and future growth.
• Design review:
o The offeror must provide a detailed design of the solution and provide a design review with um staff.
• Implementation plan:
o Upon successful completion of the POC, the offeror will implement the backup and restore solution.
o The implementation plan must include detailed steps for system integration, data migration from existing systems (or configuration based on existing systems), and system testing.
o The plan must also outline any training required for um staff to ensure smooth operation and maintenance of the new solution.
• Training and support:
o It is expected that the offeror will provide comprehensive training for um staff on the new backup and restore solution. roles include data architect, data analyst, etc.
o A sample of a training plan should be included in the response.
o It is expected that the offeror will provide ongoing support and maintenance services to ensure the solution remains effective and up to date.
• Cost breakdown:
o The RFP response must include a detailed cost breakdown (attachment j)
o Any additional costs or potential cost-saving measures should be clearly outlined.
• Compliance and security:
o The proposed solution must comply with all relevant data protection and security regulations.
o The offeror should provide details on how their solution ensures data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
• Performance and reliability:
o The offeror should provide benchmarks demonstrating the solution's effectiveness in similar environments.
• Scalability and flexibility:
o It is expected that the solution will be scalable to accommodate future growth and changes in university backup and restore needs.
o The offeror should outline how their solution can be adapted to evolving requirements.
- University budget for the implementation project is up to $100,000 cad and the budget for the annual licensing costs is up to $120,000 cad per year.
