The vendor is required to provide to replace agency aging fare collection/sales system with a modern, state-of-the-art fare collection system (FCS) for both fixed route and paratransit services and to provide support, additional equipment, services, and maintenance on an as-needed basis throughout the useful life of the system.
- Provide a new FCS are to provide a state-of-the-art, open access, user-friendly, fare sales and collection system that can accept currency, physical fare media, and digital fare media.
- The system shall maximize:
1. Widespread customer adoption of the system,
2. Ease of use for riders,
3. Ease of operation for operators,
4. Ease of accounting and reporting for administrative staff, and
5. Ease of maintenance for support staff.
- Except as otherwise agreed to, the services provided in the system shall be provided solely within the continental states and on computing and data storage devices residing therein.
- During implementation of the new system, the existing program must remain functional until the new system has been implemented, tested and accepted by agency.
- The proposer shall describe the:
• Allocation of base data storage,
• Any data storage limits,
• Data access methods,
• The notification process if storage is exceeded,
• Steps to eliminate the need for additional storage, and
• Steps required to obtain additional storage if needed.
- The option to implement a fare capping payment system, including customizable fare cap price thresholds for different services and rider types.
- The system should support separate fare cap price thresholds for different services and different rider categories (such as full fare, reduced fare, senior, and paratransit).
- A system is required for central configuration, monitoring, control, and reporting of all equipment and programs within the system.
