- Storage of octa equipment
• Provide a designated secure storage area for all octa-owned spare equipment.
• This area will have limited access and be under the control of octa or a designated representative.
• Contractor shall coordinate with octa for access to this area as needed to support maintenance operations.
• Within one (1) week of contract award, contractor shall coordinate with octa to inventory and confirm possession of all octa-provided spare radios and mobile data terminals stored in the designated location.
• Upon confirmation of receipt, contractor assumes responsibility for safeguarding the equipment from loss or damage during handling, use, or transport for maintenance purposes.
- Scheduled preventive maintenance program
• All cables and connectors inspected for fraying, tightness, and proper routing
• All radio housings, microphones, touch screens cleaned at every repair and inspection
• Insure proper MDT calibration and global positioning satellite (GPS) functions; touch screen and vehicle odometer settings
• Insure proper mobile routers and tablets have power and boot up properly
• Test 2-way voice calls, data messages, and silent alarm operation
• Contractor shall be required to schedule, maintain, and track the annual inspections.
• A monthly report covering inspections completed during that period shall be provided by contractor and sent to the octa project manager on the first of every month.
- The basic in-vehicle subsystem equipment suite includes the following components:
• Driver control module (DCM): the orb star unit (also known as a mobile data terminal) provides functional computing, management and user input for the vehicle system.
• This is the operator’s man-machine interface to the AVL system.
• In-vehicle unit (IVU): the main system processor that manages all communications and control of the on-board system equipment ancillary interfaces and equipment subsystems.
• Mobile radio: vehicles are equipped with one m7300 radio used for both data and voice communications.
- Mobile radio
• The acs-provided in-vehicle equipment suite includes a mobile radio, shown in figure 2-4.
• The radio supports data messaging and voice calls (when commanded by the IVU to switch to a voice channel).
• While in data mode, the radio handles data communications between the in-vehicle subsystem and fixed-end subsystem.
• Data messaging commands the IVU to switch the radio to voice mode when a dispatcher calls a vehicle.
• While in voice mode on the radio system, the radio affiliates with the trucking controller and the operator are allowed to use the handset for voice calls.
• Upon completion of the call either by a timeout or by hanging up the handset, the radio reverts to data mode.
• The radio has three cables interfacing to it:
o The antenna coaxial cable,
o The 12 vdc power cable, and
o The radio interface cable 141015.
- Voice radio handset and speaker
• Integrated handset and speaker with hook-switch assembly.
• Microphone: audio sears P/N 6349.
• Maximum current: 150 MA.
• Earphone impedance: 210 ohms +/-15%.
• Speaker: 8 ohms, 6 watts rms.
• Housing material: abs.
• Mounting plate material: aluminum.
• Handset cable: 7-conductor coiled handset cable.
• Magnetic on-hook cradle switch.
• Environmental:
o Temperature: –20 to +50°c operating, –40 to +70°c storage.
o Humidity: 10 to 95% non-condensing.
• Handset and cradle switches will not accidentally actuate under typical vehicle motion.
- The budget for this effort is $100,000.00
