The Vendor is required to provide an enterprise mobile device management system to maintain and configure all current and future district-owned apple devices and must comply with FERPA CIPA and COPPA regulations.
- Each student has an assigned mobile device, K-8 iPad (14,000 units) and 9-12 MacBook (14,000 units). Staff are assigned MacBook’s (4,000 units). Each classroom, conference rooms and offices have AppleTVs (3,100 units) Select district employees are issued iPhones (350 units).
- Software Platform
• Browser compatibility: must be fully compatible with google chrome; other web browsers are optional
• Single sign on: must have login options based on google oauth2, LDAPS, or SAML platform
• Functional design: must be currently operational and designed for k-12 school districts
• User provisioning: must have user provisioning sync with apple school manager, one roster server, PowerSchool sis, or active directory so all users are updated within the system
• Active apple partner: must be an active 3rd-party apple partner
• Service level agreement: should be governed by a service level agreement (SLA).
• Audit log: should have audit log for all modifications to provisioning and logins
- Technical Support
• Support availability: must have support availability during regular district operating hours - 7:30 am - 5:00 pm eastern, Monday - Friday
• Initial setup: must include initial setup, training and implementation
• Technical support: must provide unlimited technical support at no additional cost for the duration of the contract
• Support channels: support must be accessible via multiple channels (e.g., phone, email, web portal, knowledge base)
• Feature enhancements: Should be responsive to product improvement requests
- Device and User Management
• Automated workflows: offer automated workflows to streamline device enrollment (zero-touch), configuration, and app deployment using apple school manager.
• Policy enforcement: ability to create, assign, and enforce granular policies and restrictions based on user groups (e.g., students by grade level, student and teachers by course, teachers, administrators).
• Feature restrictions: ability to restrict features including but not limited passcode requirements, camera, airdrop, and network settings.
• Inventory & asset management: real-time tracking and reporting of device information, including hardware details, installed applications, warranty status, and network information. Should have integration with district asset management software (incidentiq).
• Operating system updates: centralized management and deployment of macos, iPadOS, and tvOS operating systems and updates.
- Application Management
• Silent app management: silent installation, removal, and updating of app store and enterprise applications.
• VPP integration: full management of apple volume purchase program (VPP) licenses.
• App catalog: provide a self-service app catalog for macos and iPadOS, allowing the district to curate a list of approved applications for user installation.
• Non apple app store repository: maintain a repository for apple compatible applications that are not in the apple app store for district installation.
• Content delivery network (CDN): leverage a robust CDN for hosting and deploying apps to ensure fast and reliable delivery to all devices.
- Identity & Access Management
• Platform single sign-on (SSO): support single sign-on, integrating with the district's existing identity providers to simplify user authentication.
• Single sign on for MacBook’s: provide a platform to allow end user MacBook’s to SSO with federation using cloud-based identity providers (e.g., Microsoft azure ad, google workspace).
• Cloud-based identity management: include a robust identity management solution that allows the district to streamline MacBook and account provisioning and password management using cloud-based identity providers (e.g., Microsoft Azure AD, Google Workspace).
- Classroom & Support Tools
• Apple classroom integration: provide full support for apple classroom management tools, enabling teachers to manage and guide classroom activities.
• Screen sharing: include secure screen sharing capabilities to facilitate remote troubleshooting and support for end-user MacBook and iOS devices.
• Reporting & analytics: a comprehensive dashboard and customizable reporting on device compliance, application usage, and inventory.
