The vendor is required to provide that spanish interpretation services for reliable, professional, and accurate oral and written interpretation and translation primarily from english to spanish and occasionally from spanish to english.
- Interpretation services sought are primarily oral, although written translation and interpretation may be required on occasion.
- Provide interpretation service in both consecutive and simultaneous techniques.
a. Consecutive interpreting: rendering of speech from one language to another, using a turn-taking approach.
b. Simultaneous interpreting: rendering of speech from one language to another at the same time it is being spoken.
- Simultaneously interpret city council and planning commission meetings and other special meetings and events
- Provide interpretation for members of the public who wish to provide comments in spanish during a meeting.
- Provide offsite and virtual interpretation services from time to time.
- Provide oral interpretation via telephone, virtually via a video or audio internet platform (e.g. zoom), or other remote methods as the city needs.
- Provide interpretation for meetings for long periods of time. meetings average 2 – 3 hours but occasionally may go much longer, up to 6 – 7 hours, without advance notice.
- As part of a proposal, the vendor should clearly state-required working conditions, including the interval and length of rest periods, if needed.
- Occasionally communicate briefly with public speakers and others who desire to use interpretation services.
- Arrive to meetings and other events at least 15 minutes prior to the start time.
- Have the ability to provide interpretation equipment to transmit and receive audible interpretation through equipment ownership or rental.
