The Vendor is required to provide a diverse panel of interpreters/translators to meet the needs of populations served by the department’s programs for whom the primary language is not English.
- Services requested include on-demand phone interpretation, video remote interpretation and/or virtual interpretation.
- All services must be available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week in case of emergencies.
- Language interpretation is mainly needed during normal business hours (Monday – Friday between 8:00 am and 6:00pm), although there is a need for 24/7 interpretation during emergencies or community engagement events.
- Provide a toll-free, nationwide 1-800 number or an app to access interpretation services.
- Provide a platform for video interpretation services, especially to provide for American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.
- Provide interpretation services in a wide variety of languages.
- The most common languages needing interpretation/translation are Spanish, Arabic, and Ukrainian, however any language, including ASL may be requested.
- The availability of ASL interpreters is always required for this contract regardless of request frequency.
- Provide staffing that meets the following requirements: Interpreters will be bilingual and competent for the language(s) in which they will provide services.
