The Vendor is required to provide for American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter services to support university student service needs.
- These services are required to ensure equal access to educational programs, events, and campus resources for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Services include:
• Service provider must have the ability to provide a staff of qualified ASL interpreters who are available to work on-site at the designated performance locations during the academic school year.
• Service provider must have availability during the designated times between Monday and Saturday from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm.
• The number of interpreters required varies each semester depending on the number of students requesting services.
• Interpreters assigned to handle requests must be nationally certified or have qualifications and experience commensurate with national standards.
• Service provider must provide at least 24 hours’ notice of inability to fill a requested assignment.
• If an assigned interpreter is unavailable, a substitute interpreter(s) must be provided.
• Service provider must receive pre-approval in writing from the access center regarding charging for prep time.
• University will not pay prep time unless it is preapproved.
• All course materials provided by university must be returned to the director of the access center at the end of the semester in the original condition.
• Service provider must perform criminal background checks through the state crime information center/national crime information center on all employees prior to their assignment at university.
• Service provider will be required to provide proof of background checks, if requested by university.
