The Vendor is required to provide braille trail interpretive graphic panels shall be fabricated using a fiberglass embedded inkjet process designed for long-term outdoor interpretive signage.
- Frames
• Panels shall fit in pannier low profile bases (cantilevered) style frames 36”x 24” and upright and landscape bases and kiosks 36”x 52”
- Design
• All graphic panel designs will be provided by department digitally.
• Shall submit a full color proof of the provided design to department for review and approval prior to constructing the graphics panel.
• The contractor shall make any changes as requested by department until final approval is received.
• The ability to request hard-copy proofs at a reduced scale and have them shipped to department is required.
- Accessibility requirements
• Signage shall include accessible features including tactile text, grade 2 braille, and tactile graphics
1. Braille
• Grade 2 contracted braille following the English braille American edition (EBAE) standards.
• Rounded or domed braille dots.
• Positioned minimum 3/8 inch below corresponding tactile text.
• Generally lowercase, except where capitalization is required.
2. Tactile characters
• Raised minimum 1/32 inch above the background surface
• Character height 5/8 inch to 2 inches
• Stroke width 1/8 inch to 3/16 inch
• Sans-serif, uppercase
• Rounded or beveled edges
• Minimum 3/8-inch margin from borders or graphics
- Tactile graphics and images
1. Tactile graphics may include:
• The numbers on each panel will be raised, along with the outline of the circle around them.
• Raised illustrations of plants, animals, or landscape features
• Tactile maps or orientation diagrams
• Simplified raised outlines of important visual elements
• QR codes on each panel should also be indicated by a raised feature of some kind.

• Lines thick enough to be traced by touch
• Avoid excessive details that cannot be interpreted tactually
