The Vendor is required to provide for redesigning the public portal is implementing current web best practices and technologies, revising the information architecture, creating a content strategy and revamping the visual design so that we can provide our audiences with the best information in a more user-friendly fashion, motivate participation in the organization, and communicate the services and programs more effectively.
- Visual Design
• This shall include a cohesive graphic design incorporating agency brand, colors, logo, culture, etc.
• The Website should include the City’s branding bar (global navigation bar) and it should be available across all subsite pages as well.
- Site Navigation and Organization
• The search function should be able to search the main site, subsites page content as well as news, events and the contents of various document files.
• The site should incorporate an intuitive MENU system and robust SEARCH functionality as the primary navigation tools so that information is easy to find.
- Responsive Site
• The site should use responsive design principles to automatically detect the screen resolution of any device and respond with a view of the site that is optimized specifically for that screen.
- Browser Compatibility
• The site should be fully functional (both viewing and editing) on all major browsers and all consumer devices.
- Emergency Alerts or Notifications
• The site must have the ability to prominently display an alert message during closures or crisis situations and links to critical information.
- Language Translation
• The site should allow users to select their preferred language.
• Ensure the translated text fits within the website's layout and design without issues like text cut-offs or overlapping elements. Ensure accuracy and avoid cultural misunderstandings.
- Google Analytics
• The site must incorporate Google Analytics for recording traffic data such as number of visitors to our site or pages, site search interactions, clicks on embedded videos/downloads etc.
- Social Media Integration
• The site should have the ability to integrate with social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, etc. Extending the website's marketing capabilities and encouraging site visitors to follow us on different platforms and engage with your content.
- Photo Gallery
• The site should incorporate interactive elements like galleries, slideshows and also have the ability to auto scale and resize images to be web friendly sizes.
- Indexed document archiving and retrieval system
• A way to publish and archive public information documents. Provide centralized storage of documents of any file type with built-in filtering and search capabilities on the back-end for administrator and public use.
- CMS Functionality and Administration
• A way to add, edit and move pages and content without the need to utilize a backend administrative system (i.e. HTML).
• The CMS must have an advanced WYSIWYG rich text editor for content updates that, while allowing flexibility for more experienced content contributors, is simple and straightforward for basic users. The solution should also have the capability to view the HTML code of any individual page and directly add or alter the code as necessary.
• Content publishers must have the ability to preview changes prior to publishing.
• Should feature delayed posting and automatic expiration abilities.
• Should allow permission levels to be attributed to groups to which users can be added in order to assign permissions to subsets of site content.
• Content publishers should be able to add and update menu items if assigned the appropriate permission level.
• Administrators should be able to define the workflow (i.e. content approvals), assign the workflow to content groups and content types, and assign users to workflow rules.
• Have a solution that detects broken links and provides a report that allows administrators to resolve those issues.
• Should provide a complete audit history of each page update (date/time, user) and the ability to view the pages at each date/timestamp.
