The vendor is required to provide fire alarms, sprinkler monitoring, occupancy notification, and one-way voice communication systems within multiple existing occupied buildings.
- Design services:
• Investigate and record existing conditions, including underground conduits. select copies of the original fire alarm system drawings and original building floor plan drawings are available.
• Develop digital software drawings for each building and site compatible with the department’s standard AutoCAD and civil 3d 2025.
• The department has scanned copies and does not have digital software drawings for the operations service center (OSC) buildings and the department building.
• Design new addressable fire alarm systems to meet agency, ul, the 2022 electrical code title 24 part 3, 2022 fire code title 24 part 9, and the 2022 national fire alarm and signaling code (NFPA 72).
• Submit plans, shop drawings, battery calculations, and modifications to electrical and fire sprinkler backflow for city building permit and department fire marshal approval.
• The new systems shall not be proprietary and shall allow factory-trained independent services to meet current department maintenance procedures and standards.
- Installation services:
• Allow time for approvals of submittals, fabrication lead time, working in an occupied environment, scheduling vacancy of rooms for installing above ceiling, and scheduling of inspections.
• Mobilize and install the new systems by building.
• Reuse existing conduits where feasible and install new conduits, boxes, and finish trim as needed for a complete system that meets the electrical code and the building code.
• Provide ul fire rated penetrations for new conduit and backboxes through existing rated assemblies.
• Include penetration upgrades to existing conduits or backboxes in rated assemblies
• All related work to access the infrastructure and components above the ceiling or behind walls shall be included in the proposal.
- Testing services:
• City acceptance of each completed building will follow the training by the system manufacturer and the system pre-test with department staff.
• After city acceptance, the department fire marshal will perform a final fire alarm system test of each completed building.
• Each final test will include a review of submitted as-built documents
• Final record documents for this project will be required in paper copies and electronic copies from the original contractor marked documents.
• The entire OSC campus will be tested together at the end of the project with the department fire marshal for final approval.
