- Should HB 268 not be enacted, billing will be directed to the parents' private insurance or Medicaid for payments.
- The vendor must be certified as an in-house school mental health provider under the laws of the state before performing any duties under the contract unless one of the two exceptions is met.
• The contractor has submitted the application, fingerprint cards, and records fee for the individual’s certifications, and the secretary of state has not disapproved the application.
• The mental health provider must obtain certification through the commission.
• There are different pathways to certification, including completing a state-approved school counseling program or holding specific credentials such as the national certified school counselor (NCSC) or a state of licensed professional counselor (LPC).
- Their mental health providers are properly trained before performing any duties required under the contract.
- The mental health provider must have a master’s degree or higher in counseling, social work, psychology, or the human services.
- The mental health providers must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Mental health providers must have at least one year of counseling experience with children.
- The mental health provider must be able to speak, read, and write english clearly and concisely.
- Mental health providers must be able to meet and deal positively and courteously with the aps students and staff.
