Mobile Application Native Application Services

The vendor is required to provide to design and develop a custom mobile application for agency public-facing trip planning website next ride for both iOS and android devices.
- The new mobile application will integrate multiple existing agency mobile applications into one single user interface to improve the customer experience and implement best practices.
- The new application will provide customers with the functionalities of the existing next ride application, as well as the ability to access the functionalities of the other four existing applications in a single, fully integrated, full-service mobile application that will be consistent with the agency brand and support the agency’s goal of developing a better user experience.
- The project will commence by combining the functionalities of the next ride, my ride and transit watch apps.
- Responsibilities
• Conduct stakeholder interviews
• Gather functional requirements
• Determine technical dependencies, based on agency existing infrastructure
• Explore conceptual design options and iterate based on stakeholder feedback
• Work collaboratively with existing agency vendors to complete any app integration work required to carry out the project, including coordination with existing agency vendors for implementation of any required software development kits (SDKS)
• Build prototypes
• Execute all mobile application development
• Provide transition support and documentation to agency marketing team
- Business requirements
• Project timeline: the contractor shall complete all design and development for the mobile application in 10-12 months. • GitHub: the mobile app shall utilize GitHub software for source control and associated version control tool git.
• JIRA: the mobile app shall utilize JIRA for task and project management.
• Framework: the mobile app shall UTILIZE a react native, ionic or similar framework for development.
• Source code: agency shall retain and own all source code once mobile application is developed.
• Mobile device compatibility: the mobile app must be accessible from any modern mobile device once mobile application is downloaded from apple app store or google play store onto device.

• Apple app store: the mobile app must be developed so that it is compatible and meets apple app store mobile app requirements.
• Language translations: the mobile app shall be available in multiple languages. currently, agency language access plan specifies english, Spanish, Vietnamese, simplified Chinese, Russian and Korean.
• Analytics: the mobile app shall have analytics tools installed so agency can track app performance, user experience and engagement through google analytics ga4 or similar.

• The mobile app shall be designed using modern UI/UX practices for mobile devices and tablets.
• Provide wireframes for 8-10 screens showing key functionality around navigation and content layout.
• Provide high fidelity designs for 10-20 screens showing key functionality like plan a trip user experience flow
• Provide clickable design prototype to show full user experience using Figma or adobe XD.
b. User interface
• All mobile app text shall have a high contrast color to its background to ensure legibility and meet iOS and android platform accessibility requirements.
• The design of instructions and graphics in the mobile app shall minimize glare and other effects of sunlight and ambient lighting accessed by settings in the OS.
c. Accessibility
• The mobile app should be developed to use the mobile device screen reader tools provided by iOS (voiceover) and android (talkback).
d. Design systems
• The collection of tools, platforms, mobile applications and software that comprise the new technology stack shall be complementary of one another.
e. Developer experience
• The solution shall provide a modern developer experience (DEVX) for native android and iOS mobile applications, incorporating the following standard - modern architecture: clean, modular design with clear separation of concerns.
