The Vendor is required to provide of our public access catalog (PAC) and the implementation of a mobile application into a single procurement effort, university aims to deliver unified, seamless experience for patrons across all platforms and devices.
- This integrated approach will ensure consistency in functionality, branding, and accessibility—whether users are engaging with library resources via desktop, tablet, or smartphone.
- This initiative supports our strategic commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective library services, ensuring our member libraries have access to the best tools for engaging students and patrons.
- Solution will:
• Replace the existing Polaris Power PAC with a modern, intuitive discovery interface.
• Introduce a dedicated mobile application to provide a seamless and unified patron experience across devices.
• Libraries within the consortium must retain their individual identity and operational autonomy through dedicated branding and customization options.
• Improve accessibility, usability, and engagement for all library users.
• Align with current ADA Title II Web Accessibility standards.
• The solution must have various methods available for default search functionality (title, keyword, author, etc.)
• The solution must provide additional bibliographic enhancements like thumbnails, book covers, etc.
• Solution must include robust patron account management features that allow users to easily access and manage their account information.
• Solution must provide functionality to feature staff curated content, i.e. new books, promotional materials, staff picks, reviews, recommendations etc.
• The solution should have advanced search capabilities including Boolean logic and persistent filters across sessions.
- Mobile application integrates the following features to enhance user engagement and functionality:
• Event notifications: Support for real-time alerts and updates related to library events or activities.
• Calendar integration: Ability to view, manage, and sync events with personal or institutional calendars.
• Location-based services: Use of supported technologies (e.g., GPS, geofencing) to provide location-aware features such as branch-specific notifications, nearby resources, or directional assistance.
• Material Checkout: Support for checking out physical or digital materials directly through the mobile app, including integration with self-checkout kiosks or barcode scanning functionality.
