The vendor required to provide tele-counseling platform and services to provide a convenient and cost‐effective way for university students to receive mental health support for common conditions that can be safely and accurately diagnosed and treated online.
1. Mental and emotional support:
• No cost to students and faculty and staff, unlimited 24/7, on demand triage mental health support, coaching, services, and crisis management by qualified, certified mental health practitioners who meet the credential.
2. Counseling:
• No cost to students and faculty and staff access to scheduled licensed counselors in the state in which the student or the employee is located. students and employees would be able to pick their counselors from a diverse selection based on areas of expertise (eating disorders, depression, substance abuse disorder, etc.), along with the date and time of the appointment.
3. Psychiatry:
• The student counseling services, or designee, at each institution will control which students receive no-cost-to-students psychiatry services utilizing a system which allows the platform to recognize such referral.
• Students can then schedule virtual psychiatry visits at their preferred date and time.
• A designee at each individual institution will oversee the distribution of psychiatry visits.
• An efficient and effective system should be provided to keep each institution’s point of contact fully aware of the allocated visits and appropriate protocol.
• Psychiatry is a service only requested for students and services are not needed for faculty and staff.
4. Health coaching:
• Unlimited no cost to students and faculty and staff virtual visits scheduled with a qualified nutritionist. services should include coaching which would help empower students to adopt new or maintain healthy lifestyle habits and behaviors.
• Other areas of health coaching should include but not be limited to: exercise, mindfulness, health body image, sleep habits, weight management, eating disorders, nutrition, gut health, meal planning, blood pressure, healthy eating behaviors.
5. Basic needs:
• Assistance in finding available local programs based on institution and availability in those institutions’ locale including but not limited to: food pantries, transportation, outreach, and nonprofit programs. assistance could also include but not be limited to: assistance in determining eligibility, support through enrollment of programs, assistance in locating nutritious and sufficient food, safe and secure housing, healthcare for mental and physical well-being, affordable technology and transportation, resources for personal hygiene, childcare-related needs, and legal services.
6. Self-directed digital care content:
• Platform content that promotes mental and physical wellbeing and allows students and faculty staff to proactively take charge of their health.
• This could include but not be limited to live sessions or access content on demand from previously recorded sessions.
• When live sessions are made available, they should be available for students and faculty / staff to register for those sessions and choose from a variety of dates and times.
• Topics could include but not be limited to: anxiety and depression, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, substance use, meditation, gender identity and expression, or dealing with stress.
7. Other tele-counseling related services:
• Any other offerings that would enhance the well-being of students and employees in a higher education environment.
