The vendor is required to provide on-demand and scheduled human interpretation and translation services in languages other than english, including american sign language (ASL), to support policing services in areas including, but not limited to, the investigation of criminal and noncriminal matters, general operational and administrative processes, and prosecutions where it is the police responsibility to arrange an interpreter.
- Provided telephonically, by video, or in person, and deliver products in a variety of formats e.g. verbal and written.
- Provide the following services on a minimum two-year basis with the option to renew annually for up to three years:
• Enabling of fast, secure and accurate communication through reliable and timely telephonic, video, and in-person interpreting and translation services in languages other than english, including american sign language (ASL).
• Service availability on-demand and through advance scheduling on a 24/7/365 basis.
• The use of professional, proficient, and certified human interpreters and translators with diverse backgrounds.
• Translation of information in various formats e.g., written, audio recording, and of various content e.g., witness statements, mobile phone footage, website material.
• Provision of professional and consistent services and products in a strictly confidential, effective, efficient, inclusive and culturally appropriate manner.
• Where a product is required for prosecution or other judicial purposes, these should be compliant with the requirements of the provincial and federal prosecution services and courts.
• For written products, inclusion of a quality assurance process with editing and proofreading components.
• Ability to track the progress of a request for service(s).
• Ability to track real-time and historical service usage for customized business intelligence and reporting purposes.
• Provision of clear, concise, and current online training, reference, and support material.
• Responsive and cooperative customer support and account management.
• Willingness and ability of interpreters and translators to provide testimony in judicial proceedings if required to do so.
• Willingness and ability to comply with privacy legislation applicable to agency.
- Funding to the amount of $125,000 for this project is included in the approved 2025/26 agency operating budget.
