The Vendor is required to provide to procure both video and in-person sign language interpretation services.
- Provider who can offer American Sign Language (ASL), trilingual (English/Spanish/ASL) and Certified Deaf Interpreters (CDIs)
- Both video and in-person requests will be made by approved providers or Agency staff members from all Agency program areas.
- For video requests, the Agency expects approximately 48,000 minutes (800 hours) of ASL service, 6,000 minutes (100 hours) of CDI service and 3,000 minutes (50 hours) of trilingual interpreter service per year.
- The proposer must be able to support video appointments using all commercially available video software including but not limited to Zoom, Teams and WhatsApp.
- If the proposer also opts to use their own video software, it must be accessible via the internet without requiring downloading and is subject to the City’s approval. (For security reasons, Agency staff are not able to download apps or software.)
- For in-person requests, the Agency expects approximately 960 hours of ASL service, 100 hours of CDI service and 40 hours of trilingual interpreter services to be requested.
- In-person requests can take place anywhere in the five boroughs of state City including Agency offices, provider locations, or direct-run shelters or in a client’s home.
- Proposers can implement a minimum appointment time for in-person appointments.
- Given the number of appointments that can occur at various locations, a geo-location tracking mechanism is required to ensure in-person interpreter compliance with appointments.
- Interpreters and the proposer’s administrative personnel must be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year to support department in their round-the-clock client-care.
- No rush charges or overnight/weekend/holiday fees will be paid for either video or in-person services.
- Interpreters for video appointments must be in a private, professional-looking space with a simple background that is not distracting from the appointment.
- Contract Period/Term: 5 years
