The Vendor is required to provide the fields of American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting and communication access real-time translation (CART) services.
- Providing ASL Interpreting Services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, including academic and nonacademic university-sponsored activities.
- Delivering CART and other real-time transcription services (e.g., C-Print, TypeWell) to support effective communication access; and
- Ensuring service delivery in both in-person and virtual formats, in compliance with federal and state accessibility requirements. - Services may also include oral interpreting, transliterating, close vision, tracking, and tactile interpreting for Deafblind students.
- Flexibility is required to accommodate late registration, class changes, and other schedule modifications.
- To ensure compliance with federal and state accessibility requirements for students registered with agency must be prepared to respond to a dynamic and evolving demand for interpreting and transcription services.
- Factors Influencing Service Needs
• The number of students enrolled in courses requiring accommodations.
• Assignment type, time of day, course complexity, and assignment duration (which may affect the number and certification level of providers required).
• Assignment-specific requirements such as field trips, group projects, labs, internships, and event attendance.
• The need for consistent interpreter or transcriber assignments throughout the semester for continuity.
• The use of specialized services such as oral interpreting, transliterating, close vision, tracking, or tactile interpreting for DeafBlind students.
• The provision of Interpreting and/or transcription services for online and hybrid courses.
• Interpreting and/or transcribing for students prior to assignments or after assignments to communicate with peers and/or instructors.
• Student registration changes, including late adds, drops, or schedule modifications.
• The inability to guarantee a fixed number of service hours each semester.
• Specialized certification levels (e.g. Legal, Medical, Trilingual, Oral, etc.).

• Interpreters shall follow the RID Code of Professional Conduct, which includes:

• Interpreters possess the professional skills and knowledge required for the specific interpreting situation.
• Interpreters conduct themselves in a manner appropriate to the specific interpreting situation.

• Interpreters demonstrate respect for colleagues, interns, and students of the profession.
• Interpreters maintain ethical business practices.
• Interpreters engage in professional development.
