- The university is known throughout the state for the efficiency of its staff and operations, and for continued innovation, even in the context of limited resources.
- Important webpages and university documents were translated to help students and their families navigate the university system both in-person and remotely.
- A translation pilot ran during Academic Year 2021-22.
- Since Academic Year 2022-23 a full spectrum of translation/interpreting services for the English/Spanish language pairing has been made available to the university community.
- Provide on-demand translation services, including but not limited to:
• Webpage transcreation
• Publicity materials
• Reports
• Policy documents
• Discipline-specific academic materials for Spanish-friendly classes.
• Emergency communications
- Provide on-demand interpreter services, both in-person and remote, including but not limited to:
• Large-scale events such as graduation ceremonies, summits, etc.
• Mid-scale events such as visiting speakers, colloquia, etc.
• Small-scale events such as department functions, interviews, etc.
- Provide on-the-job training for bilingual students and staff.
- The schedule of training is to be determined by specific projects and the structure of the academic calendar.
- Formats include but are not limited to:
• Internships for students who complete the Certificate in Spanish Translation program
• Workshops, live webinars, or access to pre-recorded training segments
• Information sessions
