The Vendor is required to provide groundskeeping services in public spaces, with a public education component for environmental stewardship and community leadership.
- Provide maintenance of public space including litter picking and weeding of plant beds, with a community education component and youth training initiative.
- Streets and sidewalks will be maintained as follows:
• Litter picking three times per week along lower acushnet avenue area
• Littler picking weekly along upper acushnet avenue area
• Public outreach to area business and property owners regarding city regulations regarding owner responsibilities to maintain properties
• Planting and maintaining containers in front of area businesses
- Public spaces will be maintained as follows:
• Two comprehensive seasonal cleanings of planted areas in parking lots and pocket parks referenced above (one each in spring and fall) to include weeding, recommended seasonal perennial plant maintenance, weeding, mulch installation
• Ongoing weekly weeding of planting beds during growing season (April 1 to October 31)
• Weeding of planted areas in parking lots and pocket parks three times per week
• Litter picking three times per week in parking lots and pocket parks referenced above - Groundskeeping services, qualified firms must outline a plan to integrate community outreach into their proposal.
- Specifically, technical proposals must address the following needs:
• Resident and business owner outreach and education regarding environmental stewardship of the acushnet avenue neighborhood, as well as general resilience initiatives
• Development and hosting of community events and programs to build community cohesion around issues of environmental stewardship and resilience.
- This program shall seek to educate youths about environmental conservation through hands-on work, directly performing groundskeeping services and by performing community outreach about environmental justice, sharing what they have learned with the community and gaining valuable skills in the process.
- Combine the groundskeeping services with a community outreach and youth employment and leadership development initiative.
