The vendor is required to provide that security guard services for the library.
- Provide unarmed uniformed security services in and around the library 15 minutes before opening to 15 minutes after closing, at the discretion of the secretary to the library board.
- Currently, library hours for which security services are sought, are as follows:
• Monday - Thursday 9:15 a.m. to 9:15 p.m., one guard. (Excluding holidays when library is closed)
• Friday and Saturday 9:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., one guard.
• Sunday 12:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., one guard.
- The library reserves the right to alter the schedule provided the library provides the proposer 30 days’ notice of the schedule change.
- The proposer shall be responsible for immediately contacting library personnel and the village police department regarding any person:
• Refusing to abide by library rules/policies;
• Attempting to gain unauthorized access to the library building; or
• Making threatening statements or appearing to present a threat to any visitor or library personnel within the building or in the immediate vicinity of the library building.
- Security personnel are required to have at least five years of security experience, maintain a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification, be able to speak, read and write english proficiently in order to effectively communicate with visitors and staff and prepare incident reports.
- Provide a variety of services, implementing the library’s security objectives according to policies and procedures which may include but are not limited to the following general tasks: entry and egress access control, roving patrols of interior and exterior building areas, report hazardous conditions in need of repair incident and daily operating reports and knowledge of the library’s active shooter procedure.
- Library to effectively facilitate access control; physical security; monitoring security; preparation and maintenance of required log forms and reports; observing visitors; miscellaneous duties relating to hazardous conditions and emergency situations or any other responsibilities deemed fit by the company to properly secure the premises.
- Responsible for hiring and training motivated and professional employees that either meet or exceed both the proposer’s and the library’s standards and routinely appear professional to the public.
- Security personnel are prohibited from carrying weapons of any kind, including but not limited to: firearms, nightsticks, martial arts weapons, batons or any chemical agent spray/liquid.
