The vendor is required to provide security guard services for corrections department
- Pre-employment requirements for all security officer staff
• Five (5) year employment verification
• Qualifications for position (see requirements and duty of staff)
• State certification/security license (see requirements and duty of staff)
• Social security check
• Driver’s license check
• Level 2 criminal background check (security officer license requirement)
• Education verification – prospective employees shall possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, general education development (GED).
• Education shall be verified by a certified diploma and/or transcript from an accredited institution.
• Military service and discharge status
• Three (3) personal character references
• Minimum nine (9) panel drug screen
• Pattern of irresponsible behavior, including, but not limited to, poor driving history
• Report any outside or additional employment activity during the hiring process.
• Department shall determine if the employment is a conflict of interest.
• Be age 19 years or older
• Be age 21 years or older to work at the juvenile assessment center (JAC)
• Be a citizen of the country or possess the necessary authorization from the immigration and naturalization service (ins), pursuant to the immigration reform and control act of 1986 and regulations thereto.
• All employees must be e-verified prior to employment.
• Be able to read, speak and carry out instructions in spoken (oral) and written english,
• Pass a psychological screening/assessment utilizing an industry certified and accredited assessment instrument for security personnel prior to hiring,
• Pass a physical health assessment evaluation and be certified by a physician as being able
to perform the duties described within this contract,
• The contractor shall ensure that all screening personnel operating x-ray systems possess sufficient eyesight proficiency to perform x-ray operator duties.
• Be physically agile and able to move and respond quickly to potential physical resistance from another person,
• Maintain a neat, clean, professional appearance and good personal hygiene.
- Training requirements for all security guards
• A review and confirmation of understanding of policy, procedures and post orders provided to the contractor by department support operations division is required to be signed and reviewed annually.
• Security guards shall review and sign department policy, procedures and post order acknowledgement form as having reviewed and understood the required training annually
• The contractor’s trainer shall furthermore confirm as having been available to discuss and answer any questions presented by the officer during training annually
• Weapons and contraband screening functions, including proper screening techniques, physical inspection, use of metal detectors, and use of x-ray systems prior to post assignment and shall be conducted annually thereafter.
• Provide documentation of important employee benchmarks for hiring, training and other key items related to the hiring and employee training processes
• Employee training and certifications are critical to the contract and must be maintained at a high level
- Hiring credentials and general duties of project manager and security guards at the corrections complex
1. project manager (armed)
• The project manager position is dedicated to the corrections site only; however, they shall be cross trained with center training requirements.
2. Armed security guard
• Armed security guards shall be assigned to an armed guard post and perform the duties as described in this contract.

4. Responsibilities of roles 1-3 (above):
• Oversight of the overall operation and supervision of contractor personnel assigned to the department jail complex including monitoring employee training, disciplinary process, performance evaluations, employee scheduling and timekeeping
• Serve as a direct liaison and communicate with department contract monitors
• Implement contract compliances by ensuring appropriate staffing, inspections, and reports/files are maintained and documented
• Creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (sops).
• Perform the duties of the supervisor during administrative hours on scheduled workdays.
