3. Display and optics
• The TIC shall include an LCD display with a minimum diagonal size of 4 inches.
• It shall have a minimum field of view (FOV) of 51° x 38°.
• The TIC shall incorporate FSX (flexible scene enhancement) digital image processing technology.
4. Operational modes
• The TIC shall offer a minimum of two NFPA-conforming modes of operation:
• Default basic TI mode
• Black and white TI mode
• In default mode, the screen shall display the following:
• Direct digital temperature readout (in Fahrenheit)
• Battery level indicator
• Temperature reference bar
• Temperature bar
• Mode indicator
5. Colorization and spot temperature
• The TIC shall utilize tri-color automatic colorization to indicate specific temperature ranges using shades of yellow, orange, and red.
• The TIC shall include a digital spot temperature readout to assist with localized temperature Assessment.
6. Accessories and physical features
• A self-retracting strap capable of supporting the full weight of the TIC (including battery) must be included, allowing it to hang unsupported from the firefighter’s body.
• A retractable lanyard, neck strap, and strap lanyard shall be included.
• The TIC shall be provided with:

• Desktop charger capable of charging two batteries simultaneously
• User’s manual
• Hard shell carrying case
• USB cord
7. Charging system
• The vehicle-mounted smart charging system shall:
• Charge both the battery inside the TIC and a backup battery simultaneously
