The vendor required to provide security services are required during the hours the building is open, which includes, but is not limited to, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. To 5:00 p.m., and during board meetings which may end at about 10:00 p.m.
- Work schedule
• Contractor shall operate two (2) 5-hour shifts daily with a new so for each shift.
• The hours shall be 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon and 12:00 noon – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, except state holidays, weekends and other scheduled closures, or as otherwise approved by the contract administrator (ca) or point of contract (POC).
• Security officers (SOs) shall be available until 10:00 p.m. during regular board meetings and until 6:00 p.m. during board committee meetings, as necessary.
- Background check
• SOs shall have no criminal convictions that may deem the so unsuitable to provide services. Upon state request, proof of a background check, current within one (1) year, shall be provided to the state within twenty-four (24) hours.
- Security officer’s (so)’s responsibilities
• SOs shall report for duty in a prompt and timely manner.
• SOs shall be alert and capable of exercising good judgment, possess an even temperament, and be tactful.
• SOs shall be able to communicate effectively, write simple reports, and read and follow instructions.
• SOs shall be well-rested, in good health and have refrained from consuming alcohol for twenty-four (24) hours prior to reporting for duty.
• SOs shall be physically able to perform the job requirements that includes prolonged standing and being vigilant and alert at all times.
• SOs shall refrain from visiting and socializing while on duty.
• The relationship between the SOs and the public and the tenants and employees must be one of persuasion, tact, and diplomacy rather than one characterized as autocratic, condescending or overbearing.
• SOs shall exercise caution in dealing with the public.
• SOs shall be able to deal with tenants and employees and the public in a positive manner.
• SOs shall be able to maintain good relations and preserve order firmly without being arbitrarily tough or abusive.
• The duties of the SOs shall include the prevention of and protection against theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entries and the so shall direct and escort all unauthorized persons to leave the premises, prevent re-entry, and call the police.
• SOs may use force as a last resort only and the amount used must be justified by state and federal law.
• SOs shall maintain a daily log of all entries of visitors and vendors without the official id card.
• The visitor’s id (driver’s license, picture id) will be checked against their printed name on the log.
• SOs shall issue a temporary id pass to visitors without an official id and retrieve them when visitors exit.
