RFP Description

The vendor is required to provide security services on an as needed basis within the province including remote areas.
- The services may be required at multiple locations at one time.
- Security services could be used at any emergency event or large-scale incident including, but not limited to fires, floods, train derailments, hazmat incidents, road closures, evacuations and various types of search and rescues.
- Typically, between 2-4 security resources are required at each large-scale incident and 4-8 security workers are required during each evacuation (24 hour day) depending on the number of community members being evacuated.
- This may require a number of security staff at many different locations at the same time.
- Depending on the size of the evacuation the number of securities requested to be on site could increase to 10-12 security or more per shift/24 hours a day.
- Security staff may be asked to keep a log of staff members and the times they enter or leave a camp or incident.
- Services
•    Provide at least 3-4 security teams of two (2) personnel for multiple incidents at one time;
•    Supply one team of two (2) security staff within 24 hours of agency request and supply additional teams as requested within 48 hours of the first team being assigned;
•    Team supplied will be expected to:
o    Work and stay in remote areas
o    Work 12-hour shifts in potentially adverse weather conditions
o    Work on site for extended periods of time, up to 12 days
•    Supply standard professional uniform that is visual and can be clearly identified (photo id, security jacket, hat or shirt)
•    Supply a security supervisor on site for every 4 security guards to ensure proper communication and site direction.
•    Provide transportation for resources. One vehicle will be required for every two (2) security personnel assigned and more vehicles available upon request by the agency.
- Camps are always placed in safe locations but with unpredictable weather, camps have been threatened by wildfires and dangerous weather events in the past.
- Sites/camps are usually out of a firebase or town but are commonly placed in remote locations in the provincial forest, which could be 2-3 hours from the nearest community.
- Working in an emergency setting can be very stressful. Security staff will work with trained agency staff and may be exposed to local community individuals that could be in a state of panic/anger.
