1. Security:
• Provide secure storage bins and secure shredding services.
2. Transportation:
• The contractor shall pick up documents in bins or boxes from each location and transport them to a shredding facility.
• Contractor will enclose documents already contained in a secure container within a securely enclosed vehicle at the time of removal to the contractor's offsite destruction facility.
• Any boxes of documents shall be transported on pallets and shrink-wrapped or loaded into secure containers before removal from each location.
3. Destruction:
• Documents using industry-standard methods that make them unreadable and unreconstructible.
• The contractor shall destroy documents by shredding to 5/8 inch or smaller as specified by the agency.
• Contractor may propose an alternate destruction method, which will require advance approval by the agency.

1. Physical security
• Destruction facilities must be equipped with standard physical security measures, including active barriers to entry such as perimeter fencing, secure dock doors, and single-entry points.
2. Physical security protocols
• Physical security protocols for destruction facilities must be active from the time materials arrive until materials have been destroyed.
3. Alarm systems
• Destruction facilities must be equipped with electronic alarm systems capable of detecting and alerting the user to specific dangers including intrusion and fire.
• Alarm systems must be monitored by a third-party vendor with clear protocols for whom to contact and when the local authorities are to be dispatched to the site for inspection.
4. Security monitoring systems
• Destruction facilities must be equipped with electronic security monitoring systems capable of monitoring, recording, and storing images of people and objects in the facility.
5. Activation of alarm and security monitoring systems
• Alarm systems and security monitoring systems must be activated when the destruction facility is not in operation.
• Provide proof of regular testing of these systems upon request.
