The vendor is required to provide all labor, equipment, tools, supplies, transportation, and incidentals necessary for servicing and maintaining the town’s fire prevention systems in town buildings.
- This may include but is not limited to smoke detectors, alarm panels, carbon dioxide detectors, exit and emergency lights, sprinkler systems, fire alarms, kitchen hood cleanings, and backflow preventer inspections.
- Service requirements:
• The contractor shall test and inspect smoke detectors and carbon dioxide detectors.
• The contractor shall test and inspect exit signs and emergency lighting.
• The contractor shall conduct kitchen hood inspections
• The contractor shall test and inspect the sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems in accordance with requirements of the national fire protection association (NFPA) including standard 25 – standard for the inspection., testing, and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems and the state fire marshal’s office and other NFPA standards.
• Contractor shall also clean all smoke and duct devices and sprinkler heads found dirty or loaded at least annually and perform visual inspection of all sprinkler heads annually.
• The contractor will test the smoke detectors, carbon dioxide detectors, and manual pull stations as required per national fire protection association (NFPA) 72 standards.
• Backflow preventer inspections for all town buildings.
- Other requirements:
• The contractor shall be required to bond all employees with liability insurance, worker’s compensation and other requirements as required by law.
• The contractors’ personnel conducting inspections and performing maintenance shall keep all records.
• A copy of the records shall be forwarded to the city/county fire marshal’s office and the city risk manager’s office annually.
• The records are to include the following: department, extinguisher location, extinguisher type, extinguisher size, 6-year maintenance date, hydrostatic date, and maintenance performed.
