The vendor is required to provide that signage and striping services for various city project including all labor, equipment, parts, supervision, etc. in support of the department of public works traffic engineering division.
- Contractor shall perform traffic signage and pavement striping work at various locations throughout the city on an as-needed basis for both planned and urgent projects as directed by the city’s traffic engineering division.
- Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, parts and materials, transportation, traffic control, and any other items necessary to perform and complete the work
- Contractor shall not perform work between the hours of 3:00 pm and 9:00 am every day, on days with rain, directly on, before or after a legal holiday, with nearby construction, with scheduled special events or any other abnormal circumstances that might affect traffic conditions.
- All traffic signage and pavement striping in accordance with the latest edition of the standard plans, state manual on uniform traffic control devices and city traffic standard details.
- Traffic signage:
• Includes general specifications for furnishing and installing roadside signs.
- Materials
• Sign panels shall be of the type, size, shape, and pattern designated or called for on the plans and detail drawings.
• Sign sizes are not specified in the plans, the designated standard size sign in accordance with the state shall be used
• Signs must comply with the state sign specifications and the federal standard highway signs and markings book
• Sign panels shall be constructed of aluminum, unless otherwise specified on plans. aluminum panels shall conform to the requirements in “materials” of the standard specifications, and the standard plans
• Sign information must be imprinted in 1/4-inch upper case letters and numerals. locate this information on the back, lower right of each sign panel.
• Sign information must include:
1. Month and year of fabrication
2. Type of retroreflective sheeting
3. Sheeting manufacturer's identification and lot number for the retroreflective sheeting
- Signpost:
• Signpost shall be 2-inch by 2-inch galvanized perforated square steel tube post and square steel anchor sleeve, comply to section 82-3.02b, “metal posts”, of the standard specifications.
- Sign foundation:
• Concrete bases for traffic control signposts shall be portland cement concrete of the shape and dimensions shown or called for on the plans and detail drawings and shall conform to “minor concrete” of the standard specifications.
- Paint:
• Curb paint shall be flint fast dry waterborne traffic paint, or an approved equivalent, and shall be prepared and applied in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
- Remove traffic stripes and markings:
• Existing striping and marker removal shall be in accordance with sections 84- 9.03b, "remove traffic stripes and pavement markings", and 81-8.03b, "remove pavement markers", of the specifications, except that removal by sandblasting shall not be permitted. removal shall be by grinding.
• Contractor shall comply with the state health and safety and celosia regulations and requirements regarding the removal, handling and disposal of yellow thermoplastic and painted traffic striping and pavement markings.
• The contractor is responsible for any additional requirements necessary to comply with the regulations.
• The traffic engineer is used to remove yellow thermoplastic and yellow painted traffic stripe and pavement marking, the removed residue, including dust, shall be contained and collected immediately
sweeping equipment shall not be used.
• Collection shall be by a high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter equipped vacuum attachment operated concurrently with the removal operations or other equally effective methods approved by the traffic engineer.
