The Vendor is required to provide outdoor digital wayfinding and information kiosks 2026 services for all components of the kiosk solution, including hardware, software, system configuration, and coordination of installation with the project manager and designated contractor.
- Intends to deploy four (4) outdoor digital kiosks consisting of:
• Three (3) single-sided kiosks
• One (1) double-sided kiosk
- The kiosks shall include a total of five (5) outdoor-rated digital displays.
- Display sizes should be approximately 55 inches; however, vendors may propose equivalent display sizes that meet the operational and visibility requirements of the project.
- The system shall include a total of five (5) displays, three (3) interactive touch-enabled display surfaces, and one (1) dedicated media player per display (or equivalent dedicated processing architecture).
- Hardware requirements
• Outdoor-rated commercial display(s) suitable for continuous operation
• High-brightness displays suitable for direct sunlight environments
• Weather-resistant enclosures designed for permanent outdoor installations
• Integrated or compatible digital signage media players
• Location- based services
• Mounting structures and internal component integration
• Internal temperature management (cooling and heating systems as required)
• Durable and vandal-resistant enclosure construction
• Serviceable and modular components allowing maintenance access
• Display brightness shall be suitable for full outdoor sunlight visibility (minimum 2,500–3,500 nits).
• Displays and components shall be rated for continuous 24/7 operation.
- Interactivity requirements
1. Of the four kiosks:
• Two (2) kiosks shall support interactive functionality
• Two (2) kiosks shall function as non-interactive digital display units
2. Interactive kiosk configuration shall include:
• One (1) single-sided interactive kiosk
• One (1) double-sided interactive kiosk
3. This configuration results in three (3) interactive display surfaces.
4. Interactive kiosks must include:
• Outdoor-rated touch technology designed for public use
• Reliable touch performance in outdoor environments
• Protective surfaces designed for high-use environments
• Compatibility with browser-based or web-based applications
- Outdoor operating environment
1. Proposed equipment must be capable of reliable operation under environmental conditions including:
• Direct sunlight exposure
• Rain, snow, and ice
• High humidity
• Dust and airborne particulates
• Wide temperature fluctuations typical of the country
• Displays shall include anti-glare and high-contrast features to ensure readability in direct sunlight
2. Provide documentation describing:
• Operating temperature ranges
• Environmental protection ratings (IP ratings or equivalent)
• Display brightness (nits) suitable for outdoor visibility
• Anti-glare or sunlight readability features
• Vandal resistance and durability characteristics
- Software and content management
• The kiosk solution must include or be compatible with a digital signage content management system (CMS) allowing zoo staff to remotely manage content across multiple kiosks.
• The CMS platform must support:
o Remote content deployment
o Scheduling and playlist management
o Centralized control of multiple displays
o Content updates and system monitoring
o Role-based user permissions
o Media players shall be commercial-grade, solid-state devices designed for 24/7 operation and capable of supporting high-resolution content and interactive applications.
o Systems must support modern web browsers capable of rendering interactive web applications with hardware acceleration.
• The zoo primarily operates in a macOS environment; therefore, the system must be fully operable through:
o A web-based interface -or-
o Software compatible with macOS devices
• Interactive kiosks must support operation of the zoo’s existing web-based digital map application. The zoo currently utilizes Brightside players to run other monitors throughout the campus and preference is to stay with these.
• Solutions should be compatible with this existing infrastructure or provide an equivalent, industry-standard alternative.
• Identify whether their proposed solution:
o Requires proprietary media players
o Supports third-party digital signage players
o Allows browser-based interactive applications.
