The Vendor is required to provide all labor, materials, supplies, and equipment necessary to fabricate, transport, and install graphic film featuring custom-designed artwork on interior and exterior surfaces throughout county.
- The Public Art program anticipates one project per year requiring these services. Project types range from routine maintenance and art film replacement to large-scale graphic art film installations.
- Preparation:
• Conduct a site visit to the location(s) before installation to confirm surface sizes and field measurements.
• Review the artwork files and work in consultation with the county and the artist to make any necessary changes to make them suitable for printing. The county will provide the contractor with adobe illustrator or tiff files of the artwork. The county and artist will approve any changes to the files for printing.
• Submit shop drawings for approval. The drawings must:
• Show how the film will be applied to surfaces.
• Indicate the orientation and placement of each film on each surface.
• Provide physical film samples for review and approval prior to printing.
• Submit data sheets for all materials to coincide with design specifications.
• Develop a printing and installation plan and schedule that includes the level of effort for all labor, materials, and equipment required to furnish samples and shop drawings and fabricate, transport, and install film in accordance with the approved final files and shop drawings.
- Fabrication and material specifications:
• Printing onto 3M™ scotch Cal™ Clear View Graphic Film (Indoor: 3M 8150 indoor; Outdoor: 3650-114) or approved equivalent.
• Printing using inks resistant to fading or degradation by ultraviolet rays.
• Creating the full range of colors and translucencies required for each project based on the samples provided.
- Installation:
• In consultation with the County, arrange and provide for the transportation and installation of the Film Artwork at the specified site(s).
• Install the Film Artwork on the surfaces in accordance with the approved shop drawings in consultation with the County.
- Provide the County with a maintenance manual describing all materials and products utilized in the Film Artwork and the recommendations for their care and upkeep.
- Develop the final installation schedule in coordination with the County.
