The Vendor is required to provide geographic information systems (GIS)-centric application tailored to the city’s growing fiber infrastructure.
- Objectives
• Asset lifecycle management: tracking assets from planning and construction to maintenance and decommissioning
• Logical and physical mapping: high-fidelity mapping of cables, ducts, splice enclosures, ports and individual fiber strands
• System integration: seamless data exchange with existing municipal systems (e.g., Esri ArcGIS, or network monitoring tools
• Data migration: if applicable, the scope for cleaning and importing existing GIS data from legacy systems, cad files, KMZS, or paper maps in the new system
- Technical requirements:
• Circuit path tracing: the ability to perform “trace” functions to identify the path of a signal from the OLT to the end point.
• Emphasis on focus on optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) requirements
• Splice management: digital “splice books” that visualize internal connects within enclosures
• Mobile functionality: field-ready access for technicians to view and update asset data in real-time (with offline capabilities).
