The vendor is required to provide pre-employment background investigation services for both safety and general positions.
- The safety positions require a thorough pre-employment background investigation of each candidate.
- The investigation is confidential and the information obtained in the investigation and the report is the property of the district.
- The pre-employment background investigation for safety positions should include:
1. The background investigation will consist of 1) an interview and 2) a field investigation.
2. The personal interview will include review of the candidate’s personal history statement completed by the candidate, required documents, and all supplemental questionnaires.
3. Written report to the District designee containing findings from the written, verbal, and field inquiries
4. Completion of the investigation and submission of the report within 45 days of the initial assignment
5. Areas of inquiry and investigation to include, but not be limited to:
• Education history, including education pursued and completed
• Employment history, including review of personnel files and documents
• Professional qualifications and licenses
• Military history (if applicable)
• Legal history, including both criminal and civil
• Driver license history and driving record
• Social media review
• Residential history
• Financial history, including credit check
• Drug and alcohol use/abuse history, including results of any employment-related drug tests, arrests or convictions
• Reference checks to include educational, employment, residential and personal references
• Other relevant information developed in consultation with District designee during the course of the investigation of an individual candidate.
