The vendor is required to provide transcription process which they recommend, but does not fully meet the needs of the BMS.
- A transcription process that more directly meets the needs of BMS projects and differs in some key aspects from what is described in the Wildtrax transcription user guide.
- Transcription method
• Transcription method than what is described in the Wildtrax guide.
• Unlike BU, we do not track individuals on a minute-by-minute basis.
• Instead, we will use a time-removal approach, and only the first identifiable instance of a species-individual combination is tagged.
• An “identifiable” instance here is considered one in which a species code other than “unknown” and a confidence rating for the tag can be assigned.
• A species-individual is tagged the first time it is detected, and only once, even if the bird, mammal and amphibian continues to vocalize for the remainder of the recording.
• On the Wildtrax project page you will see that the tasks assigned to you have the method codes 3m 1spt or 10m 1spt, indicating either a 3-minute or 10-minute recording using what Wildtrax refers to as the “one species-individual per recording method”.
• The steps for creating tags and filling in metadata are outlined in detail in the Wildtrax guide.
• Remember to always draw the box outside of the entire signal; do not leave parts of the sound outside of the box.
